Ask ten Chinese factories for a 261 kWh commercial battery cabinet and you will get ten quotes that look almost identical: 314 Ah LFP cells, liquid cooling, 125 kW, IP55. The differences that matter are elsewhere. Which certificates cover that exact model, who makes the inverter inside, and whether the cell supplier can change without notice. This guide ranks Chinese commercial and industrial (C&I) storage suppliers with those questions in mind.
Short answer: China’s top ten C&I energy storage suppliers for export buyers in 2026 are Sungrow, Huawei, BYD, HyperStrong, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, Kehua, HiTHIUM, Gotion, Jinko ESS and Great Power. The first three are the safest choices for bankability. HyperStrong and CRRC Zhuzhou each took 6% of global storage installations in 2025 according to Benchmark, more than many better-known Western brands. The other five are strong on cells or price but need closer checking of export certifications.
Last updated: October 2026. Specifications come from manufacturer datasheets and product pages, cross-checked against the Coloprice catalog of C&I cabinets. Certification notes reflect what each maker publishes for the specific model. “Not shown” means we could not find it publicly, not that it does not exist.

The suppliers
1. Sungrow
Sungrow is the PCS company that became a storage leader. It ranked first in Wood Mackenzie’s 2026 global integrator ranking, and for C&I buyers that translates into one practical benefit: the inverter inside the cabinet is Sungrow’s own design, so grid-code certification, firmware and warranty sit with one company. The PowerStack 255CS allows up to 25 cabinets in parallel, which is unusually high and useful for factories that expand in stages.
2. Huawei Digital Power
Huawei’s C&I cabinets pair with its inverters and its FusionSolar monitoring, which is why its biggest customers are installers already selling Huawei PV. The older LUNA2000-215-2S10 (215 kWh, 108 kW, 91.3% round-trip efficiency) listed UL 9540A and UL 1973; the current LUNA2000-241-2S1 raises capacity to 241 kWh with 314 Ah cells. One documented caveat: 215 kWh units made in or before December 2024 cannot switch between on-grid and off-grid, so they do not provide backup on their own.
3. BYD Energy Storage
BYD installed more than 60 GWh in 2025, 13% of the global market, and is the only supplier here that also builds cars, buses and the cells for all of them. Its MC Cube MC-B536 (536 kWh, 134 kW) is UL 9540 listed; the MC-B501 version runs at 250.5 kW for faster discharge. For export buyers, BYD’s main attraction is cell certainty: there is no third-party cell to be swapped mid-contract.
4. HyperStrong
HyperStrong is little known outside the industry, yet Benchmark counted it among the top ten global storage installers in 2025 with a 6% share. Its HyperCube C&I II Plus provides 261 kWh and 125 kVA, while the II Max reaches 835.9 kWh with AC output at 400, 690 or 800 V and a quoted 92% round-trip efficiency. Multiple AC voltage options matter for industrial sites with medium-voltage transformers.
5. CRRC Zhuzhou Institute
The rail-traction group CRRC brings heavy-industry power electronics to storage, and its Zhuzhou institute took 6% of 2025 global installations according to Benchmark. The export cabinet CESS-M418-EU offers 418 kWh and 215 kW at 690 V. CRRC’s own release notes the certification for the M418 is “in process”, while the smaller M261 already holds its certificates. That is exactly the kind of detail buyers must check before signing for a specific model.
6. Kehua Digital Energy
Kehua is best known for UPS systems and data centre power, and that background shows in its compact S³-EStore cabinet. The ESI215-100K-M delivers 215 kWh and 100 kW in a 1.3 m² footprint with an IP54 enclosure, and a 241 kWh version is also listed. Footprint matters at urban commercial sites where every square metre of yard space is contested.
7. HiTHIUM
HiTHIUM is a cell maker first, and one of the fastest-growing LFP producers in China. Its ∞Block 418 kWh cabinet (209 kW, 314 Ah cells) and 261 kWh version use its own cells, and it has announced the ∞Power 1,022 kWh cabinet built on very large 1,175 Ah cells. The ∞Block datasheet we reviewed lists no certifications, so request the full certificate set for your market before quoting.
8. Gotion High-Tech
Gotion, partly owned by Volkswagen, makes its own LFP cells and offers a wide cabinet range. The EDGE 760 kWh cabinet (ESD1267-05P760-G) delivers 380 kW using 300 Ah cells; the Edge X-522 all-in-one provides 522 kWh and 250 kW. Gotion also sells a 261 kWh cabinet with PV and EV charging built in, aimed at commercial sites that want one box for solar, storage and chargers.
9. Jinko ESS
The storage arm of module maker JinkoSolar sells the SunGiga G2 (261 kWh, 130.5 kW) with up to 12 cabinets in parallel, and the G2 Plus (522 kWh). For buyers already purchasing Jinko modules, adding storage to the same framework agreement can simplify credit terms and logistics. Ask which cell supplier is used in your batch, since Jinko does not make its own cells.
10. Great Power
Great Power is a Guangzhou cell maker with an expanding systems business. Its Magna-C&I-520 (522 kWh, 250 kW) is a mainstream liquid-cooled cabinet, while the Great One 260-I uses immersion cooling, with cells submerged in dielectric fluid, which is still rare in commercial storage. It suits buyers who want own-brand cells at a competitive price and are willing to do their own certification diligence.
Other Chinese cabinet makers you will meet at SNEC or on RFQs include Sunwoda (NoahX and OASIS lines), ZOE Energy Storage, CLOU, EVE, REPT, CALB and Narada. Most build on the same 314 Ah cell generation, so certification depth and service presence decide between them.
Five checks before a Chinese C&I cabinet ships
- Certificate matches the model number. The CRRC case above is common: one cabinet in a family is certified, its larger sibling is “in process”. Get certificate numbers and confirm them with the issuing body.
- Cell change control in writing. Integrators that buy cells can switch suppliers when prices move. The contract should require written notice and re-testing.
- Grid code and inverter origin. If the PCS inside comes from a third party, ask who holds the grid-code certificate for your country.
- Fire documentation. For North America, UL 9540 and UL 9540A reports for the exact configuration; for Europe, IEC 62619 and IEC 62477-1 at minimum.
- Spare parts and local service. Ask where spare modules and PCS boards are stocked and who will travel to site. A two-week wait for a fan board idles the entire investment.
ShineTong does not make battery cabinets, but we supply the DC protection around them: DC circuit breakers, storage accessories and combiner boxes. If you are sourcing a cabinet from China and want help with factory checks, our sourcing service can support. For the international view, see global C&I ESS brands and the utility-scale ESS solution vendors ranking. DC contactors inside these cabinets are covered in our DC contactor manufacturers guide.
Frequently asked questions
Which Chinese company makes the best commercial battery storage?
For export projects that need financing, Sungrow, Huawei and BYD are the safest choices because of scale, certification depth and service networks. Sungrow ranked first in Wood Mackenzie’s 2026 integrator ranking, and BYD led 2025 installations by volume.
What does 314 Ah mean on a storage cabinet datasheet?
It is the capacity of each LFP cell, and the current mainstream size for stationary storage. Cabinets of 261 kWh and 418 kWh are built around it, which is why so many Chinese quotes look similar.
Are Chinese C&I batteries UL certified?
Many are, model by model. Sungrow’s PowerStack 255CS has UL 9540A test results and BYD’s MC-B536 is UL 9540 listed. Others, such as CRRC’s M418, were still in certification when we checked. Always verify the specific model.
Is a liquid-cooled cabinet better than air-cooled?
Liquid cooling keeps cell temperatures more even, which helps lifetime in hot climates and in dense cabinets above about 200 kWh. Air-cooled cabinets are simpler and cheaper and still suit smaller or cooler sites.
How long does shipping a C&I cabinet from China take?
Production is often four to eight weeks for standard models, plus sea freight. Batteries ship as Class 9 dangerous goods, which limits carrier choice and adds documentation. Build this into the project schedule.
